Lions Code Of Ethics

Do's & Don'ts

You were not asked to join the Lions Club just by chance, for some good Lion member, prior to recommending you as a prospective member to his Board of Directors, watched you and worked with you. He was satisfied that you had a sense of community responsibility that you were interested in seeing your community become a better city and better still, you were prepared to give of your time, your energy and your talent, together with other members of the community, to see that it did become a better place to live and that many of the needs of its population, which they themselves could not meet, were made available to them.

This good Lion felt this so strongly that he chanced his reputation in his Lions Club to recommended and sponsor you as a fellow member.

When you became a member of a Lions Club, it indicated to the other Lions that you accepted the responsibility to your community and to your club to support it in all of its projects and to give your club freely of your time, your ability, and your knowledge, to enter into a spirit of fellowship with each of the members and to do all in your power to make your Lions Club grow and become a greater leader in the Community.

You will find, here among your fellow members, a sense of friendship and brotherhood a deep and sincere desire among our leaders and members alike to search out ways of helping people less fortunate than we, and above all there is the true and sincere desire to establish peace and trust filled with friendship among the peoples of the world so that our nation may have the peace we search for and that we may live among the other nations of the world in harmony.

  Code Of Ethics

  • TO SHOW my faith in the worthiness of vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.

  • TO SEEK success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.

  • TO REMEMBER that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.

  • WHENEVER a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards my fellow men, to resolve such doubt against myself.

  • TO HOLD friendship as an end an not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.

  • ALWAYS, bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state and my community, and to give them my unnerving loyalty in word, act and deed. to give them freely of my time, labor and means.

  • TO AID my fellowmen by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak and my substance to the needy.

  • TO BE CAREFUL with my criticism and liberal with my praise, to build up and not destroy.
